Astrobiology – Search for Life beyond Earth

Have you ever wondered about the presence of Life beyond our Earth? Have you ever queried about the origin of Life? What is the future of it in Universe?

Life is special. There are conditions where we human beings can live, while there are several other environments like deep sea or hot springs that are unbearable for us, but still Life exists there, but how? What are the necessities for life to exist?

Well, we can study and learn about that in Astrobiology!

Astrobiology is the scientific study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the Universe. Not only that, it also surrounds other scientific disciplines including Astronomy, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Physics and Planetary Science. Astrobiologists might get the clue as to how life could exist in other environments such as other planets or satellites as well other planets outside our solar system, i.e., exoplanets. If life truly exists in other planets or moons there is possibility of finding a new home for Humanity!

However, origin of life is one of the most challenging and elusive questions in science. We constantly try to figure out how to identify and isolate life forms that blossom on Earth and in other extreme conditions beyond Earth, which will help us go one step ahead in hunting for life elsewhere in the Universe.

Exploring Life’s Extremes

We delve into the extremes of life on Earth, from the deepest ocean trenches to the harshest deserts, to understand the limits of life’s adaptability. By studying extremophiles and their unique survival strategies, we gain insights into the potential for life in the extreme environments of other worlds.

Searching for Extraterrestrial Life

We actively participate in the search for extraterrestrial life. Our scientists collaborate with international space agencies and missions to explore Mars, Europa, and other celestial bodies, seeking signs of past or present life. We are at the forefront of astrobiological research and technology development.

Origin of Life Studies

Unraveling the enigma of life’s origins is a central focus of our research. We investigate the prebiotic chemistry and environmental conditions that could have given rise to the first living organisms. Our experiments and simulations offer glimpses into the remarkable process of abiogenesis.

Open Dialogue and Education

Our Astrobiology Centre serves as a platform for open dialogue and education. We host seminars, workshops, and discussions that invite scientists, students, and the public to engage with the profound questions of astrobiology. We encourage critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity.
